What does a brontosaurus look like?

The brontosaurus is a large, long-necked dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period, from 154-150 million years ago. This impressive reptile was one of the largest known animals of its time. Its name literally means "thunder lizard," which is fitting for its huge size. The Brontosaurus was mainly a plant eater and is thought to have weighed up to 30 tons.

The Brontosaurus' body was relatively long, with a woman neck and tail, and four powerful legs ending in broad feet. It had a downward curving neck that could reach nearly 15 meters in length, enabling it to reach food high in trees and vegetation on the ground without moving its entire body. Its body also sported a small head with large eyes and nostrils. Its backbone was made of thick bones providing it with extra strength to support its heavy frame.

As far as looks go, the Brontosaurus had a color pattern known as "countershading," which provided it with perfect camouflage in the dark swamps it inhabited. This consisted of dark shades on its back and head, fading into lighter hues along its sides down to white underneath. In addition, the animal's skin boasted pyramidal scales made out of connective tissue giving it an armored look-and-feel as protection from predation by carnivorous dinosaurs such as Allosaurus.
